The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has partnered with Godrej Properties and RC Group to redevelop a section of the Bandra waterfront in Mumbai. The first phase of the project will focus on creating a landscaped public promenade at Bandra Reclamation, converting underutilised land into a recreational destination for residents and visitors.
The initial phase will include a walking track, landscaped gardens and a lifestyle hub with dedicated spaces for pets, literature activities and an amphitheatre. The development is part of BMC’s wider vision to establish Bandra Bay as a prominent waterfront district.
In an exchange filing dated Wednesday, October 7, Godrej Properties confirmed its participation in the project. Vishwas Mote, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Zone III) at BMC, said the development aims to create public spaces where people can walk, spend time with their families and connect with their communities.
Rohit Mohan, Chief Design and Sustainability Officer at Godrej Properties, highlighted the importance of context-sensitive design, functional spaces and durable materials that are easy to maintain.
The development project is likely to grow during its second phase where there will be construction of a mini golf course and a distinct area meant for sporting activities and recreational activities.
Anup Singh, Head of Design and Regulatory at RC Group, said community aspirations have played an important role in shaping the project. He added that Bandra Bay is envisioned as a neighbourhood landmark that brings together landscape design, environmental sensitivity and public participation.
The three partners aim to develop a lasting public destination that improves the Bandra waterfront and creates additional recreational spaces for Mumbai residents and tourists.
Meanwhile, Godrej Properties shares closed 2% lower at ₹1,577.50 on Wednesday, ahead of the announcement. The stock has declined approximately 22% in 2026 so far and around 24% over the past 12 months.
